There's never been a better time to, at least, give Yakuza a try. The entirety of Kiryu's saga, the origins of the Yakuza series, will be available to subscribers on Xbox (and PC) to enjoy. After that, Yakuza 6: Songs of Life will be added to Game Pass by late March. Now, by the end of January, Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 will be added to Game Pass. Many players had their first experience with the series when Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 were added to Xbox Game Pass throughout 2020. That exposure has already shown some early beginnings with Xbox Game Pass, which is adding even more Yakuza games at the end of January, as well as this March. Behind the veil of wacky side quests and absurd minigames that most people think of, the Yakuza franchise tells a surprisingly mature and compelling story worthy of additional exposure. To some extent, describing Yakuza games as "niche" isn't wrong they're strange, melodramatic adventures filled with drastic tonal shifts that can be off-putting to some. Despite Sega's own words describing the series as targeting a "niche" audience, the Yakuza series has still surpassed 14 millions sales this year.
